A little Waldorf confession... the children watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars
I thought Bean might like a Star Wars toy for her birthday, but besides Legos, I'd rather not have plastic toys in the house. This needle felted R2 D2 I made is sturdy enough to play with, but soft and made of wool. It smells like sheep! I guess you can't really get an idea of its size in the photos, but it is about 3 inches tall. Big enough to squeeze in the important details, but I did skip the middle leg(?).
Making this was a fun project, and Bean loves it. Good practice for my growing needle felting skills, but I don't know if I can manage felting Ahsoka

So cute!
That turned out really well! Amazing needle felting skills.
I would never have come up with this idea! Working with wool can really bring out a mamma's creativity, huh?
Will you be attending the Waldorf Winter Faire? If so, you can see some of the wooly creations I've made lately...
Either way, check out this post and please help me spread the word about the Winter Faire. It is sure to be a lovely event!

I think you did a great job with R2! It must be really difficult to felt tiny details like that. And you didn't cheat by skipping his middle leg - it retracts up into his body when he stands upright :D
Would you consider making an R2D2 (Asoka, and whatever else you've felted) for sale?
